David G, Barnes, DO

David Barnes, DO, is an orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in the operative and non-operative treatment of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He treats a full spectrum of spinal disorders including degenerative conditions, disc disorders, adult spinal deformity, revision surgery, and spine trauma. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive and motion preservation techniques, including lumbar and cervical disc replacement, that allow for patients to heal quicker and achieve optimal outcomes. Dr. Barnes appreciates that every patient is unique and that every spine problem requires a special and thoughtful solution.

 

Dr. Barnes graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo Utah, and then earned his medical degree from the University Of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth Texas. He completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phoenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia. Dr. Barnes elected to obtain further training in spine surgery at the prestigious Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas. He is committed to advancing the field of spine surgery and improving patient care by staying involved in research and book chapter publications.

 

Dr. Barnes feels very fortunate to return to the state and care for patients here in Utah. He and his wife, Emily, have three children. In their spare time, they enjoy exploring the southern Utah outdoors together.
